Description
Somewhere in the "Third World," a showdown between the USA and the USSR is looming, threatening nuclear war. Henry Kissinger is dispatched to lead peace talks, but his airplane hits turbulence in the Bermuda Triangle and vanishes. President Ford meets with June Robbins and asks her to summon the Challengers of the Unknown to find Kissinger.
The Challengers fly their new plane to the Bermuda Triangle. They encounte a "vibration field" that tosses them into another dimension, where they manage to land on an island peopled with warriors riding strange multi-horned beasts. Vibrations from these beasts' horns knock the Challengers unconsious. When the Challengers awake, they find themselves in a prison cell with Kissinger, who explains that the vibration field that keeps the island invisible emanates from the beasts' horns. This field also causes the inhabitants to be immortal; they originally arrived in many different historical eras.
The warriors' tribunal decrees that the Challengers must either remain on the island or die. The Challengers fight back, are defeated, and are locked in their cell again. Using electronic gadgets hidden in their boot heels, the Challengers shatter the cell bars and slip from the castle. The warriors track them down and attack. Meanwhile, Prof. Haley uses a gadget to negates the brain-numbing horn vibrations. The Challengers fight while Kissinger swings his briefcase, and escape to the jet. "Ace" Morgan pilots the jet through the vibration field, returning to Florida. Kissinger tells the Challengers that the world should learn a lesson from the diverse warriors who have banded together on the mysterious island: "If only our world could band together against one common enemy -- and have that enemy be war itself!"
