Countdown - Now, Forager! / The Origin of The Trickster / The Origin of The Pied Piper
Forager appears in Metropolis on her quest to discover the killer of the New Gods and takes Jimmy Olsen from the relative safety of the Newsboy Legion to question him. Pied Piper and Trickster narrowly avoid being captured by the Suicide Squad who do manage to take Double Down. Hidden by an invisibility generator, they decide to stow away on the Squad's helicopter to discover where the captured villains are being taken. Karate Kid and Una face off against Brother Eye who argues that it attacked Karate Kid in self defense because he did not show any respect. Buddy Blank's grandson likes Brother Eye and, as the machine calms down, it directs Karate Kid and Una to Bludhaven where they can find a similar strain of the Kid's virus, and perhaps a cure. Mary Marvel, encouraged by Eclipso, has been punishing those she perceives of doing wrong and has finally attracted the attention of magical heroes, in particular Madame Xanadu who contacts the Shadowpact. Forager asks Olsen to join her in her quest to discover the assassin of the New Gods. On Earth 8, the Challengers From Beyond are offered the chance to join Monarch's army but refuse, as does Lord Havok and the Extremists resulting in a fight between both groups. Monarch, however, brings the lead members of the Crime Society from Earth 3 to his aid.
