Lucifer's Halo, Part One: Ascension
Every Saturday night Darrian and Jaynis go out for "The Saturday Night Times Square Free for All." It's basically a chaotic battle where you keep what you kill. This is Darrian's and Jaynis' day job, so to speak, because what they pillage every Saturday night keeps them going for the rest of the week. Tonight goes a little differently. The two are a team, but somewhere in the chaos Darrian loses track of Jaynis and has to fend for himself. However, Darrian sees an incredibly beautiful women walk down an alley way, so he cuts a path and follows her. They go up to an apartment and sleep together, her name is Dawn and she suggests that what Darrian is really looking for in life, a taste of Heaven, might be found at the church. So the next day he leaves and goes to the towering church in the far off distance. The line to get into Heaven is over a mile long, but that doesn't deter him, he just climbs up the side. He stops to rest on a ledge, but soldiers come to get him off. He jumps off the ledge and into the ocean that has now risen to take over much of the church and swims to shore. Now he's on the other side, not near New York, and in the fall his sword has broken...

- 4.0 VG: Average used copy; heavy creasing or scuffing.
- 3.0 GD/VG: Heavily read; major creases or staple rust.
- 2.0 GD: Well-worn; covers may be detached but present.
- 1.0 FR: Heavily damaged; large chunks missing.
- 0.5 PR: Fragile; missing pages or severe degradation.
