When Mercy was five, her mother contracted a wasting disease, and her father was forced to seek out underground connections to obtain the only drug that could keep her alive. Eventually, he couldn’t keep up with the payments and crooks he’d been dealing with cut him off. Soon afterward, his wife died and Alan swore to bring down the whole drug ring. For years he worked to build a case against them, only to have his report shelved. His daughter awoke the next night to see her father confronted by an armed man in their own house. The thug shot her father, and Mercy shot the intruder. Mercy’s childhood was over. Mercy would later become a Trekker, a licensed bounty hunter. Having seen how little justice the system was able to deliver, she decided that maybe it was time for people to take it into their own hands…
