Description
The Garden of Death / Curse of the Phantom Heckler!
Linda Danvers loses a date with her current swain, Bob Lewis. Another actor named Frankie asks to take his place, since his current girlfriend, Mary Ann Brooks, stood him up, while crying over the phone. Frankie is worried about Mary, but she refused to open herself up. Linda also gets worried and decides to check in on Mary as Supergirl. Supergirl finds Mary Ann crying. It turns out that her father, botanist Albert Brooks, has been charged with the murder of mob boss "Lucky Coin" Lacey, whose body was found on his estate grounds. Supergirl takes Mary Ann to her father's house to try to investigate. Yet the evidence against Brooks seems irrefutable. Even worse, Supergirl's X-Ray vision finds the bodies of three other gangsters on the estate. And still Supergirl thinks something is amiss. Supergirl talks to Brooks and finds one witness who can establish that Brooks was in his presence at the time of the murder. Brooks is released. Shortly after, Brooks is kidnapped by the real "Lucky Coin" Lacey and his crony, a plastic surgeon named Doc. The phony "Lacey" was another gang rival, made to look like Lacey by Doc. Now Doc has changed Lacey into a look-alike for Brooks, and they intend to murder him and have Lacey take his place. However Supergirl had figured out the truth after doing a bit of detective work, and arrives in time to save Brooks and capture Lacey and Doc. Finally Mary Ann is reunited with her father.
